I have been designing mugs and cups, and I want to share this with you - this new range is the reflection of the journey we had last year. Working with brands across different industries creating custom merch of a wide variety has given me extensive insights.
Having conversations with business owners daily, getting the feedback and ideas, we kept coming back to the MUG. With a few of my clients based in the coffee industry, a durable mug (what you will call the “commercial grade”) hits the mark.
I pondered on it, decided to cut a path and bring clarity into my offering. I am now drawing insights from branded merch and retail shelves, redefining them and bringing intentional objects into homes, spaces, and everyday moments.
That insight is what led HUM. to where it is now - designing handblown glass mugs for the Australian market, for homes and cafes that are conscious of the objects that they invite in.
Every piece is mouth blown by skilled artisans using traditional glassblowing technique. Small run with considered process.
We use the highest grade borosilicate glass - thermally resistant, lead-free, and built for the repetitive daily use and commercial dishwasher.

Why would market respond well to the cups and mugs, out of all the other merch?
I think it is the form, function, and how it interacts with our sensory systems. A mug is an object that holds warmth. When we make a hot drink and wrap our fingers around the mug, it feels cozy and calms down the body. It is also an object that marks the day - Coffee in the morning, tea for the afternoon, and something warm before bed. It becomes a part of our rituals and daily rhythm.
